Pathfinders

Pathfinders is a 2 year process for grades 6-8 including 9:00 Sunday mornings with Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education, a pre-confirmation Bible plunge with a strong worship component, and Confirmation over the 2 year period.

The group will participate in the Middle School retreat at La Foret on Nov. 5-7, mission projects (CROP Walk), all-church events, and other recreational activities through out the year.

The CE Board has designed this process to enhance group development as well as faith formation. Now is the time to get on board! A full description of Pathfinders will be presented at the Parents Gathering at 9:00 Sunday, September 12 in Fellowship Hall.

Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education

"To offer sexuality education in a congregation is to acknowledge that human sexuality is simply too important, too beautiful, and too potentially dangerous to be ignored in a religious community." - Rev. Lena Breen

A full team of trained youth facilitators is available for this intensive inquiry into sexuality as it affects all of our lives.

Two OWL classes are being offered at 9 a.m. on Sundays:

Grades 4-5 - beginning October 24 with Louis Krupnick and Haven Howell.
Grades 6-8 - beginning October 3 with Tony Porter and Lysa Burianek.
Both classes will conclude on December 19.

A parents' meeting, which is mandatory, will be held Sunday evening, September 19, from 4 - 6 p.m. This meeting provides an overview of the course, including material covered in both age groups, expectations for participation, and parent decisions about some content pieces.

For information on the OWL program values and assumptions see:
